About Us

Introduced by a mutual friend, Sara Voden & Melissa Yen started Vella cafe as a panini stand at Chicago's Green City Market two years ago. They soon expanded their repertoire by hosting a crepe brunch at Kitchen Chicago in the summer. Melissa & Sara have expanded yet again by trading in their 10x10 tent for a space with four walls & central air. Vella Cafe's menu features crepes on the weekend, plus their panini from the market, along with breakfast, brunch, house baked pastries & coffee.

Vella Cafe is a reflection of Sara & Melissa's passion for wholesome, simple, tasty food. Their philosophy is that good food should be accessible to all. They believe in creating meals that are carefully prepared, comforting, reasonably priced and most of all, delicious. Vella Cafe's goal is to become a part of the community by providing friendly service, a comfortable atmosphere & good, affordable food.
